About

I am a second year student in the History department at Rice University focusing on southern and 19th Century U.S. as well as Latin American history. My research interests include comparative race and slavery in the Americas generally, and more specifically, the experiences of free people of color in port cities of the Atlantic World and greater Caribbean.

This blog is part personal, and part professional.  This started, and in some ways continues to be, a place for submitting weekly writing assignments for Dr. Caleb McDaniel‘s 19th Century Readings Seminar, and Methods in Cultural History Research Seminar. I also use it to post tagged summaries of books that I will use to study for my comprehensive exams. In the future, I will be using it for more general thoughts and questions about current research projects, and more general developments within digital humanities, history, and technology.
